HAPPY ONE YEAR COVID ANNIVERSARY!

The one-year anniversary of COVID is fast approaching. Time certainly flies when you are having fun.

Prior to COVID, I thought words such as ‘lockdown’ and ‘quarantine’ were used only in movies or soap operas. Go figure the headline for the lost year of 2020 would be ‘Life imitating Art’ .

As I prepare to celebrate this hallowed event, I would like to speak on behalf of the unsung heroes of COVID. Yes, the forgotten people. The MOMS.

Remember us? We are not essential workers. We are the workers of COVID.

Moms are the backbone of the fairy-tale called A Wonderful COVID life. Where is the thank you from our fellow quarantine family pod members for normalizing lockdown and making forever COVID quarantine memories?

Speaking on behalf of all MOMS, the working conditions we have been subjected to have been abhorrent. I am confident that labor laws were violated. Yeah right, I know the drill. Send a grievance to your local politician or tell it to the Judge.

For the past year, MOMS ran a hotel and diner, replete with all you-can-eat buffet, and free laundry service. I am not great at math, however, based on my calculations, I prepared in excess of 1,095 meals, baked over 730 baguettes of daily corona bread and 250 pizzas (yes from scratch), cleaned toilets more than 1,460 times, and washed 2,920 pairs of socks and underwear.

I question why I ever went to law school. Too bad I missed the class ‘how to clean toilets’. Stupid me... I thought it was more important to study Criminal Trial Advocacy so I could become a prosecutor.

The Point of This Story: The Bitching and Moaning of Physical Decay.

Recently, like a few days ago, I caught my reflection in the 15X magnifying bathroom mirror. Simply horrifying! I was aghast at what I had become. A dried up, 56-year-old menopausal woman.

I had no idea when this happened during COVID. Perhaps I was too busy cooking and cleaning for everyone, that I just never looked at myself this past year. Too bad, so sad for me. Ignorance was truly bliss.

Reality hit me like a ton of bricks. I told my husband I must go to my Dermatologist, for Botox and fillers. He had the gall to reply, ‘why bother, just get a bigger mask’. Such an insensitive oaf. And he uttered those loving words on Valentine’s weekend. But he was correct. I looked for a mask similar to what the lone ranger wore, you know, to cover my eyes. Unfortunately, it was not Halloween.

Thankfully, there was good news. The second COVID lockdown in Beverly Hills was recently lifted, and people slowly emerged from their mansions.

And holy shit!

Word on these gilded streets is that the second stay-at-home order took a physical and emotional toll on the ‘toney’ people of Beverly Hills.

I am not one to talk, however, I hear from my girlfriends that people are now showing their age post lockdownYou guessed it! This is so tragic!

I took great comfort in knowing I was not the only person who looked like shit and certainly not the only person who sacrificed their beauty for their family. So cool to be a martyr.

Misery loves company, and I was relieved that I would not have to walk around Beverly Hills with a COVID bag over my head.

I know what you are thinking. You are such a Bitch! True. However, thank god I was not the only COVID train wreck!

Appearance in Beverly Hills is everything. Seriously, if you do not have your looks, your beauty, you have nothing. Perhaps superficial to some, but in this town, great hair, flawless skin, high cheek bones, big tits, firm ass and tight abs is what matters most in life.

I even heard that for the first time, self-care was at an all-time low. How low? People were not getting Brazilian bikini waxes. Talk about gross! Wow, those were tough times. Salons and spas were closed. What was a girl to do? Let it grow!

Wait! Stop the presses! What is a vagina? Has anyone looked down there during COVID?

Hitting rock bottom for me was a year without wearing makeup or jeans. Honestly, I never realized that a little bit of foundation, concealer and mascara camouflaged signs of aging. Who knew?

It is fair to say that MOMS worked so hard this year. Is it so much to ask our family, our ‘quarantine pod’ to kiss the ground we walk on? At a minimum, I would settle for a foot or back massage. Can someone throw me a bone please to show the love?

Better yet, MOMS will accept as a ‘thank you’, cash, Venmo, and/or gift card towards a total beauty makeover, and clothing stylist for starters!

All joking aside, the serious moral to this funny story, as we ‘celebrate’ the one-year anniversary of COVID, it is incumbent upon us to acknowledge a few things.

Five COVID Anniversary Acknowledgements

1. Pause for a moment to reflect on the lives lost to COVID and express our condolences to the those who have lost loved ones.

2. Be compassionate towards those who have suffered from the long-term effects of COVID.

3. Continue to wear a mask.

4. Wear two masks to really stop the spread of COVID.

5. Get a vaccine.

Let us end this ground hog day together. I cannot celebrate a second COVID Anniversary. I will need a face lift by then.

The CROWNING OF MS. COVID BEVERLY HILLS!

OH MY GOD! Beverly Hills restaurants opened for outdoor dining… again!

Down and Out in Beverly Hills No More!

We are no longer living under house arrest and the diamond and ruby studded shackles are gone.

Wait just one minute girlfriend… my jeweler is repurposing them as bracelets!

I am thrilled to be released from my second stay at home order/lockdown/quarantine! Even though millions of people are freed, I feel this is my personal crowning achievement.

At the Ms. COVID America ceremony, I threw out my apron, oven mitts, and COVID recipes. You guessed it! A truly liberating experience! Free at last!

However, I will keep one recipe that is near and dear to my heart. In the post-second lockdown world, I look forward to every Jewish girl’s favorite non-COVID recipe, fondly known as the ‘reservation.

Governor Gavin Newsom shortened my indefinite punishment of cooking three meals a day, doing the laundry for four people, cleaning toilets and dog walking. Every fuc4!n&* day was groundhog day. Who knows, perhaps he heard my cries for help.

Played by the Rules of my Spiritual Leader Dr. Fauci

If I ventured outside, I wore two (not one) 3-ply masks. In fact, I wear masks so often now, there is no reason to get Botox and fillers on the lower part of my face. My husband and kids only see me, and we know, they don’t give a shit what I look like. At the end of the day, I am as good as my last meal served.

As a devout follower of Fauci, I practiced social distancing 24 hours a day. Hell, at this point, I do not even remember what it is like to socialize with a non-family member. I played by all the COVID rules, and did not deserve to be punished.

In his infinite wisdom, Gavin issued a compassionate early release for all Californians based on compelling circumstances that were clearly not foreseen at the commencement of the second lockdown. He recognized that people were depressed, broke, and COVID weary. Yes, at the stroke of a pen, email, or a phone call, Gavin liberated millions of people this week!

To be sure, if it were up to Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, LA would still be on lockdown and he would continue to hoard COVID vaccines. I would still be chained to the kitchen.

Truthfully, there was no time to prepare a ‘thank you’ speech to express my sincere gratitude to Gavin for his understanding and compassion. I am simply verklempt.

A toast! Raise your vodka martini glasses high and let us hope for happier and healthier days! Cheers to all the Restaurants in the U.S. of A.!

Get Vaccinated and Continue to Wear Your Masks! Peace to All!

The Dean’s Odds for Acceptance 2020–2021: SLIM TO NONE!

The Dean of Undergraduate Admissions at all U.S. colleges are currently reviewing all Regular Decision applications for the admissions cycle 2020–2021. Good luck to all the desperate applicants!

Based on record numbers of Early Decision (ED) and Early Action (EA) applications at all top colleges, I am confident these same schools will be inundated with tens of thousands of Regular Decision applications for the class of 2025.

The bookies in Vegas have better odds for winning the next horse race, than for getting a student with a 4.0 GPA, perfect SAT scores and exceptional Extra Curricular Activities (EC’s) accepted to a top U.S. College this year.

You guessed it: Qualified and over-qualified students essentially have little to no chance in hell of getting accepted to a top college this year. There just are not enough freshman seats.

The overwhelming demand of applications to top colleges this year can best be exemplified at Duke University.

The word on the ‘street’ is that Duke University received over 49,500 total applications for this current application cycle. That number is truly mind blowing. Keep in mind that 5,036 applications were received for early decision, which means that approximately 44,500 students applied regular decision to Duke for the class of 2025.

I have been following Duke since 2014, the year my older son was accepted to their class of 2018. In 2014, Duke received over 32,500 total applications. 2,640 early decision applications and 29,300 regular decision applications were received that year. It was considered astonishing at that time, that the admit rate for regular decision was 9% for the class of 2018. Now fast-forward to February 2021.

As reported in the Ivy Coach Blog date January 14, 2021, “According to Duke University’s always forthright Dean of Undergraduate Admissions Christoph Guttentag, as stated in a letter he released to colleagues, “We expected more applications than last year, considering our increases in Early Decision and Quest Bridge candidates, but the increase in our Regular Decision applicants significantly exceeded our predictions. Given the number of applications and the number of students returning from a gap year, we anticipate admitting between 4.5 and 5 percent of our Regular Decision applicants. It’s a humbling and sobering task to identify essentially one in twenty applicants for an offer of admission, and we know we’re going to disappoint many exceptionally qualified candidates, but my staff and I remain committed to giving each applicant full consideration.”

The potential Regular Decision admit rate of 4.5% — 5% for the Duke class of 2025 renders me absolutely speechless. Keep in mind I rarely am ever speechless.

Duke always attracts an exceptional caliber of qualified and compelling applicants each year. Based on the above numbers, it will be next to impossible to receive an invitation from Dean Guttentag to attend Duke.

As a parent and college advisor, it is very disappointing when ‘exceptionally qualified candidates’ are rejected not on the basis of ability, but lack of freshman seats. It is sad and frustrating to the student, parent, advisor and yes, the Dean of Admissions.

My crystal ball is telling me this will be the same story at every top college in this country this admissions cycle.

As a matter of fact, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported on January 31, 2021, “The University of Pennsylvania received 55,992, a 34% increase from the year before. Haverford College saw a 16% rise, one of its highest increases in the last 15 years. Princeton’s applications rose 15%, Swarthmore’s 12% and Villanova’s 10%. Harvard received more than 57,000 applications, a 42% increase”.

This extraordinary increase in applications to top colleges is predominantly due to most colleges ‘going standardized test optional’ this year due to COVID-19.

In a non-COVID year, High school seniors who had a perfect GPA, strong EC’s, yet low standardized scores, would have been advised NOT to apply to a top college. The applicant would be rejected in the first round of review due to a low score. Sad but true.

However, in this COVID year, these students said, ‘the hell with the taking the SAT or ACT’, and decided to submit their applications without the test scores. These smart kids took a chance and rolled the dice in an attempt to get accepted to their dream school. What a great opportunity! Absolutely no downside, only an upside for this student.

The competition to receive a golden acceptance ticket to a top college will be fierce this year based on the sheer magnitude of applicants. It really is a numbers game this year.

May the best Woman/Man get accepted!

The College Interview: The Dean Wants Risk Takers, Not Chickens!

A student who is invited to a college interview is lucky. The Dean and her staff want to meet you. Do not blow this opportunity to shine above the other applicants!

The Interview Is Not Meant to Recite Your College Application

This is one of the few times in your life where you are expected to talk about yourself. A narcissist’s delight!

The Goal of the Interview

The desperate high school student must prove to the Dean at the interview that he or she is a multi-dimensional person.

Qualities the Dean Wants to Observe in Applicants at the Interview

  1. Goal Oriented.
  2. Entrepreneur.
  3. Risk Taker.
  4. Team Player.
  5. Focused.
  6. Resiliency.
  7. Humility.
  8. How Overcame Challenges.

College Interviews and Employment Interviews Are the Same

Wake up high school students! Applying to college is a precursor to applying for a job in the real world. The difference is that it is harder to get a job because only one position is being filled, as opposed to getting accepted to a college freshman class of two-thousand seats. #REALITYSUCKS

When a person applies for a job, they submit a resume. When a dopey high school student applies to college, they submit the common application (common app) ‘resume’.

The common app resume is the main repository for the subjective components of your application which include Extracurricular Activities (EC’s), Essays, References, and the Interview.

When the subjective components of an application are reviewed in their totality, the Dean of Undergraduate Admissions can gauge whether the applicant is engaged and compelling. These characteristics are critical to predict the future success of the applicant. The same is true for an employment resume.

Time to put your big boy and big girl pants on now. Welcome to the Real World (no, not the tv show).

Tips for a Successful Interview

1. Tell the Truth!

2. Liars Go Home!

3. Do Not Talk About Resume At Beginning of Interview!

4. No Bullshit Allowed At The Interview!

5. Introduce Yourself to the Interviewer First!

6. Be Yourself!

7. Let ‘Your Hair Down’ — Show the Interviewer You are Human and have a Sense of Humor!

8. Talk About Challenges You Overcome; What You Learned From Defeat!

9. Prove the Accuracy of Your Resume; Explain in Detail One EC and How it Evolved.

10. Tell the Interviewer Why You are a Fit For this College.

11. Tell the Interviewer How You Would Contribute to Your Campus Community.

WISEWORDS: Students must stand above and apart from classmates applying to the same top colleges, and ask themselves ‘do they want to make an impact in their universe’? The only chance in hell to even make it to the final rounds of the admissions committee, is to be a qualified student who possess an extraordinary, multi-dimensional skill set that validates #ENGAGEMENT, and therefore catapults you above your classmates who are all vying to attend the same top college. #OVERTHETOP #COMPELLING!

Get Your Ass Off the Couch! The Dean of Admissions is Coming!

High School Juniors On Deck For The 2021–2022 Application Cycle

Attention all high school juniors! Drag your lazy asses off the couch! Now is not the time to play video games, facetime with friends, binge Netflix, or do whatever it is that you do during the wasteland of a COVID inspired day.

Wake up juniors, you are next in line to apply to college. The Dean of Admissions is knocking at your door.

College admissions offices never closed during COVID. It continues to be business as usual for the 2020–2021 college application cycle.

High School Seniors knew that Admissions was opened for business and they played the cards they were dealt. These applicants used the COVID wild card to their advantage and blindsided Admissions offices with an unprecedented number of Early Decision (“ED”) and Early Acceptance (“EA”) applications for the freshman class of 2025.

In truth, the Deans across the country did not know what the application landscape would like this year, because they did not know the full impact COVID had on an applicant’s personal/family life, academics, and financial stability.

As it turns out, some high school students are emerging from COVID as modern-day gladiators. They are strong, resilient, and focused. These shrewd seniors knew submitting college applications early increased their odds for acceptance. Now that is how you play the admissions game!

The College Application Process Starts Now!

Hence the reason why juniors must start the college application process in January. Keep in mind the Dean of Admissions waits for no one. If a high school junior does not actively begin the college search now, no worries. You snooze, you will lose. Based on the current ED and EA application numbers this year, students are jumping over each other in their vain attempt to get accepted to a top tier college.

All the more reason why it is incumbent upon high school juniors to develop a game plan early on in this process. Future applicants need a strong offensive line of attack to optimize their chances to get accepted to the college of their dreams.

One rule of thumb in the admissions game is to learn from the previous college application year. All students who apply for the 2021–2022 cycle must anticipate a competitive field of highly talented and accomplished applicants who will apply en masse ED and EA. The Dean will have thousands of qualified applicants to choose from for a coveted freshman seat.

WISEWORDS: Be prepared to play your “A” game when you apply to college this fall 2021.

All juniors must learn the Admissions Game rules to have any chance of success. The Dean of Undergraduate Admissions determines the rules of engagement at their respective college, which are the college admissions requirements.

The Dean wants qualified applicants who have either met or exceeded their admission requirements.

To successfully play the Admissions Game, high school juniors need to formulate a strategy to apply to college. Now is the time to create a college preparation ‘to do’ list every month of this spring semester.

Game Plan for January 2021

1. Study, study, study!

2. Grades are paramount!

3. Crucial to Achieve Top Grades/High GPA Junior Year!

4. Do Study for SAT/ACT!

5. Do Look at SAT/ACT Test Schedules for Spring Semester!

6. Start Researching Colleges!

7. Schedule Virtual Tours of Colleges!

8. Continue plugging away at Extra-Curricular Activities!

9. Plan Summer 2021 Activity!

WISEWORDS: KNOW EACH COLLEGE’S SPECIFIC ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS!

REMEMBER: Juniors are running out of time to build their resume of academics and activities.

Protesting in Los Angeles

This is the only way I can vent my frustration at decision making in Los Angeles during a pandemic.

Just as the people of Los Angeles receive a glimmer of hope to end the pandemic, Mayor Garcetti decides to ‘go rogue’ and defy the CDC and CA State Guidelines to issue COVID vaccines to people who are 65 and over, and younger people with underlying medical conditions.

Garcetti claims that he must first vaccinate all LA health care workers and was unable to do so in one month. I do not understand. Does LA have more health care workers than NYC? NYS, which includes NYC, follows CDC guidelines, and has begun to vaccinate the general population.

LA is an epicenter of the pandemic in California yet remains the only county not to follow CA and CDC guidelines to administer COVID vaccines.

The people of Los Angeles continue to live under a lockdown that has no end in sight. In addition, LA residents witness rising COVID infection rates and deaths on a daily basis.

Why is Garcetti subjecting his constituents to this nightmare? The only answer is that Garcetti does not want to ever get elected to another public office.

Introducing The COVID Body Condom

How to Survive Los Angeles During a Pandemic

Meet the new face and reigning Queen of COVID-19, Los Angeles.

Why is LA Queen? Why not! LA is the current epicenter of the pandemic. For a second time during COVID, LA and Southern California are once again forced to live under a ‘stay at home order’. Indoor/outdoor dining, live entertainment, the arts, are all closed, and fashion has ghosted LA.

Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills typically mirrors a runway of beautiful people bedazzled in the most fabulous designer clothes. During COVID, sweatpants and tee shirts have trumped designer labels. What has become of us?

LA is where the beautiful, glamorous people live. Our motto is ‘lookin’ good, feelin’ good’. These days, people look like shit, and you get the rest.

Fear not! All is not lost; hope has supplemented despair. The beautiful people of LA can once again strut along the streets of Beverly Hills with heads held high covered in full COVID protective gear!

The Body Condom has taken LA by storm and is currently the new rage on the Left Coast! The LA fashion world has embraced the body condom as Avant Garde, considered to be a ‘must have’ fashion staple during COVID. Even though most of the state is under a ‘stay at home order’, the clothing stores are open, and body condoms are flying off the shelves.

Fashionable people desire more during COVID. And why not!

In LA, one out of five people test positive for COVID, every one minute ten people are diagnosed with COVID, and every eight minutes a person dies from COVID. With statistics like that, a person cannot be too careful venturing outside without proper protective gear. The COVID infection rate is so high in LA, that everyone wears their condom.

The body condom is the first of its kind to not only offer protection against COVID, but to give the consumer the freedom they have been aching for to make a fashion statement.

The body condom is made right here in the heart of LA, yes the U.S. of A. Once again, good ole’ American ingenuity is at the forefront of creating innovative attire fit for a pandemic.

Despite it being January, this is sunny and warm southern California. The body condom is versatile because it is light weight and comes with a hood, gloves, mask, booties and protective shield. In fact, it has a UV rating of 50, so there is no need to wear sunscreen. An American Flag is emblazoned on the back panel of the suit, in support of patriots, liberty and justice for all.

The hood is considered a ‘must have’. Once again, hair salons are closed in LA, and no one is showing off coiffed hair. Sadly, women and men (this is LA), are not getting their hair colored, so the hood is an ingenious way to conceal your ‘roots’ when you are out for a stroll or dashing off to the grocery store.

In addition, the matching mask is considered by many fashion divas to be the climax of this outfit. The mask is made out of rare sheep skin, so it gives the wearer the ability during COVID to feel natural and not be constrained. We respect our constitutional American rights of freedom, which is guaranteed to every condom user.

Even Trojans have been spotted marching around LA in their condoms blowing their horns to celebrate the versatility of this product.

Seriously folks, COVID is no joking matter. I desperately need to laugh, because the pandemic in LA is that scary, sad, and truly overwhelming. Life and death become REAL when the health care system in Los Angeles County issues a directive to ambulances not to bring patients who suffer from any medical condition to hospitals who have virtually no chance of survival, because the medical system is on the verge of collapse due to COVID.

My writing is not a platform to debate the existence of COVID, or the wearing of masks. I write for my own sanity; not to preach to a choir.

All I want is a vaccine, which for whatever reason, the Queen of COVID, LA County, is not administering to the general public. The best we can do is wear condoms.

TRUTH MATTERS TO THE DEAN OF ADMISSIONS AND SOCIETY

Truth matters. Words matter. Truthful facts matter. Actions Matter. Reality matters to We the People.

High school students are living in a world bombarded with a steady stream of misinformation and disinformation.

How can adolescents discern that which is truthful from that which is a lie?

I really do not know how these young and impressionable minds can determine who is telling the truth. #SAD #DISTURBING

Many authoritative figures are failing the younger generations as proper role models. For self-serving reasons, people lie.

The Truth About Lies in Our Society

1. No accountability, No consequences assessed against anyone for spreading lies.

2. No lessons to be learned from telling lies, only more confusion that results from living in a distorted reality.

3. No teachable moment to learn from the consequence of telling a lie.

The events of January 6, 2021 have forever altered the lives of these students.

In real time, we all witnessed a mob, storm the sacred halls of the U.S. Capital in support of a deliberate coup to overthrow the U.S. Government.

Why? They were seeking to reverse the results of a fair and free U.S. Presidential election.

The rioters intended to desecrate democracy, the foundation of these United States of America. Whether you like it or not, we are a government of laws. No one is above the law.

U.S. Senator and former Presidential Candidate Mitt Romney stated on the night of January 6, 2021 “…The best way we can show respect for the voters who are upset is by telling them the truth. That is the burden, and the duty, of leadership.”

I am a former assistant District Attorney. As such, I respect the institutions of our democracy, our constitution and the rule of law. I believe in speaking in truths based on factual information. I believe the dissemination of factual information is critical for success of a community, village, town, state and nation. As an officer of the court, I maintain that a person must be held accountable for their actions when they violate the law.

This is real life, and unequivocally overwhelming, and difficult for anyone to process. For many high school students, these recent events could be life altering. One can only hope this is a once in a lifetime occurrence. #UNBELIEVABLE #MENTALLYEXHAUSTED

You ask, “What does this have to do with a high school student and college admissions”? Everything. The Dean of Admissions wants to know how these young men and women are emotionally processing a failed coup against the United States Government during a pandemic. Surreal to even pose that query.

For the high school senior who submitted college applications regular decision for the current application cycle 2020–2021, he or she may be able to personally answer the above question.

When applications are being reviewed, students may be interviewed by an admissions counselor or alumni. These interviews are another critical component in the subjective review of the candidate. It is also where the student can directly speak with an admissions representative to convey in person who they are and why they want to attend that college.

The hopeful candidate can use the interview as a platform to discuss how these two phenomenal events have personally affected themselves, their family, school and community. Moreover, this is a priceless opportunity to discuss what if anything you have done to help your community address these stressful, life-altering events.

The Dean wants to know whether a student is an active participant in their community. Why? High school students who participate in their communities, will be active members of their college communities. It is for this reason that a student’s social, political and academic values are aligned with the college they aspire to attend.

The Dean also wants to know how students overcomes challenges. A pandemic and governmental coup are unequivocally unforeseen challenges, and no one has been immune from these events. Have these events changed the student’s views toward the world and impacted future career decisions?

These questions will be posed to all current and future college applicants.

WISEWORDS: KNOWLEDGE IS POWER.

REMEMBER: The Dean of Undergraduate Admissions wants students who want to learn, and positively contribute to their campus community. The Dean wants accepted students to grow, flourish and mature at their college, to ultimately contribute to their world to simply make it a better place. #AMEN

Happy New Year 2021! Get Your Ass Out of Bed and Workout!

Now THAT Is A Leg Stretch!

Excuse me, but I never thought it was possible for anyone to ever stretch their legs out horizontally and get a bonus view of your crotch. Really.

Do not let the photo in this article discourage you from working out. To be clear, I am physically incapable of ever touching my toes, let alone my heels or ankles. I believe that toes should be seen; not touched as part of an exercise.

Welcome to 2021. Yes, the pandemic still rages on and I am still living under a stay-at-home order. Other than cooking, cleaning, laundry, family walks and binge watching, what is a girl to do?

I know! Workout two hours a day! Ask my friends, they can attest to my regimented workouts. I practice what I preach. My mantra is #NOPAIN #NOGAIN!

Fitness has been deliberately incorporated into my daily life for over thirty years. My excuse, if I need one, is that I have a chronic back ailment, and exercise is critical for me to physically function.

What have I learned working out with experts such as physical therapists, private coaches and trainers for over thirty plus years? Exercise must be executed correctly and consistently in order to maximize results. We all want to see the noticeable increase of muscle strength and tone, the improvement of cardiovascular function, which cumulatively improves mental acuity and provides anti-aging benefits.

I am living this science experiment. When I do not exercise, my back hurts and I feel and look like shit. #TRUE

Throughout the years, I have trained my friends. Yes, they come to my house, and they want me to literally ‘work them out” to tone their body and lose weight. I assume the role of drill sergeant. #TRUE

Top Reasons Why My Friends Workout!

  1. Get rid of stomach bloat.
  2. Want ‘six pack’ abs.
  3. Loathe ‘love’ handles.
  4. Hate Hips.
  5. Hate Thighs.
  6. Arms.
  7. Lose weight.

In my makeshift gym, we do not body shame or fat shame! We are friends and love each other! However, the body complaints are universal.

The bottom line: it is critical that exercises are done properly to avoid injury and to optimize results.

In order for me to survive a second lockdown, I hope to share not only my work out secrets, but anti-aging secrets in the upcoming weeks and months.

Cheers to a healthy and happy 2021!

Pray to the Dean of Admissions to Get Accepted!

PICK ME GODDAMMIT!

The college applications are submitted! Deadlines are met! What next? Welcome to the waiting game. There literally is nothing left to be done. The application is now in God’s hands — no, not that god, the other one, the Dean of Undergraduate Admissions.

No college application is a ‘slam dunk’ for admission, unless your name is Zion Williamson and have a direct telephone line to the basketball god. #GOBLUEDEVILS!

I am speaking to you — the parent. There are rules to this waiting game. Parents cannot influence the admissions decision. As we learned from the Varsity Blues Scandal, under no circumstances can you send a letter to the Dean that contains a check, cash or gift card. #NO!

Parents cannot send an Edible Arrangement (the large assortment that has the full chocolate dipped strawberries and half dipped pineapple flowers) to the Dean or Admissions Officers. #NO!

In fact, parents and students are prohibited from contacting the college admissions office once the application is submitted. #NO!

The only person who is permitted to contact admissions on behalf of the student is the guidance counselor. #FUNFACT

It is true, only the guidance can advocate on behalf of the student once the college application is submitted. The guidance counselor is permitted to call and/or email the Admissions office and speak with the regional admissions officer responsible for overseeing the student’s application.

In the event there are new developments regarding the student’s profile that could positively enhance the cumulative review of the application, the guidance counselor can contact admissions and provide the additional documentation if deemed warranted and permitted by admissions.

WISEWORDS: In the admissions game , patience is a virtue.
